The main idea is to make it an enjoyable experience. One that is not centered around food. Focus on the company and the atmosphere.

Do not labor under the disillusion that eating certain foods is sinful.  You are not doing anything sinful by “cheating” on your diet.

Your diet is not your spouse.

Look to food as nourishment. You need to eat, you deserve to eat. It is okay to enjoy eating, it is normal to find food pleasurable. Do not be ashamed of eating. Instead, allow yourself to relish the experience.
