Singapore is a city perpetually under construction. Where Fences are ubiquitous elements of its cityscape, marking the birth sites of new modern buildings and amenities. They can even be found in our parks and nature reserves as part of our government’s effort to upgrade the wilderness to “serve you better”. I guess that is why to me, fences have come to symbolize progress and development. Very much like makeshifts cocoons separating the old from the new, behind which the city’s new appendages slowly blossom.
